 Calculus

Definition

  Calculus is the study of continuously changing behavior. Calculus specifically deals with the operations of limits, derivatives and integrals.

Examples:

#1 While finding the distance, d, traveled by a car moving at a constant speed, r, for a given time, t, can be done with the formula

d=rt,

the distance, d, traveled by a car moving at a continuously changing speed, r(t), over an interval of time, [a,b] would require an integral.
